Description
Women’s bonnet or Second mourning bonnet in black silk crêpe or crape, crimped, gathered and pleated. Reinforced and painted cotton gauze buckram with shallow crown at back and internal wires supporting brim. White cotton net binding inside front edge base. Short black net veil with crape binding around edge. White cotton net binding inside front edge. Lined with black silk printed in gold ‘Meldrum, East End Drapery Warehouse, Kirkaldy’ surmounted by coat of arms. Hat pin with black glass head and metal sharp attached in side of crown.
